Fred is the Managing Director of Centum Capital, a position he has held since August 2015. He is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the execution of the Centum 3.0 strategy through the development of investment grade opportunities across the eight sectors of focus: Financial Services, FMCG, Power, Real Estate, Agribusiness, Healthcare, Education and ICT. Prior to his appointment to the current position, he was the Company Secretary and Director of Corporate Affairs at Centum.

 

Fred has led the team in Centum in concluding a number of exit transactions from the portfolio including its $50m sale of UAP Holdings, $27m sale of Platcorp Holdings and $24m sale of Genafrica Asset Managers.

Mr. Geoffrey Otieno Odundo is the Chief Executive of the Nairobi Securities Exchange Limited. Mr. Odundo, an accomplished Investment Banker has been in the financial services sector for the last 24 years, 17 of which have been in the Capital Markets in various senior roles in asset management, corporate finance and securities trading. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Odundo was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kingdom Securities Limited. He was instrumental in the setting up of Co-op Trust Investment Services, Co-op Consultancy Services Limited and Kingdom Securities Limited.

Mr Odundo has advised on a number of corporate finance mandates in both the public and private sectors; he has also managed key mandates in the asset management industry. Mr. Odundo has contributed to the growth of the Capital Markets in his previous role in the Kenya Association of Investment Banks, the Kenya Bureau of Standards and on the Board of the Nairobi Securities Exchange

Faith Chege is an Associate at Factor[e] Ventures, a seed-stage venture capital firm based in Colorado, USA with offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Bangalore, India. We find, validate, fund, de-risk, and grow a rich pipeline of social ventures that aim to solve profound global problems in the areas of access to electricity, agriculture, waste and resource management (including sanitation), and sustainable mobility. 
 

Prior to her current role, Faith was the CFO at Barefoot Power, a solar manufacturing social enterprise where she oversaw financial operations in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Ghana.

Kigen Chelimo is a Manager with Arcadia. In his role, he works with embedded talent to help bring analytical rigor to critical decisions, oversee projects and improve the effectiveness of senior leaders. He works with clients across industries, including agriculture, financial services, WASH, and manufacturing, with a specialty in corporate finance, strategy and financial processes. 

 

Prior to Arcadia, Kigen was an Associate with Open Capital Advisors, based in Kenya and Uganda, working to help clients develop strategies and raise capital. Before joining Open Capital, Kigen worked as a Research Analyst with PineBridge Investments, advising on investment strategies in public equity and fixed income markets across Sub Saharan Africa.

Vladimir is passionate about driving disruptive innovation across the emerging world and effecting positive impact across industries and economies. After spending a few months in East Africa in 2017, he decided to follow this passion and move to Nairobi to focus on venture investments across the African continent.

 

Vladimir started his career at Ernst & Young after graduating from Moscow State University, and spent 10 years with major Russian financial institutions working on M&A advisory and private equity projects across Eastern Europe. In 2014, he relocated to Cuba to study Business Spanish in the University of Havana and became increasingly familiar with key challenges and opportunities in other developing regions. Upon his return to Russia, he joined A-Ventures Management Company as a Director for distressed asset management and was responsible for a portfolio of assets in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. After receiving his MBA degree from INSEAD in 2017, Vladimir now works at EAV as an Investment Manager with a particular focus on the nexus between energy and connectivity. Stephen Gugu has considerable experience both as a consultant and in employment. As a consultant he runs InVhestia a financial advisory business company that builds financial models for companies helping them in their decisions including valuation, operations, budgeting and planning, negotiations and project finance. Through InVhestia Stephen has consulted widely for startups, SMEs, corporates and projects in Africa. He sits on the advisory board of several companies and of Demo Africa, Africa’s premier Startup launch competition and the African Business Angels Network. Stephen is also a co-founder at ViKtoria Ventures a sector agnostic angel network out of Kenya focused on commercially viable early stage investments from East Africa which are post traction.

Stephen also works as an adjunct faculty member in Entrepreneurial Finance at Strathmore Business School. He has been teaching finance and entrepreneurship related courses for the past 9 years. In this capacity Stephen acts module leader for the private equity and venture capital program in the business school.

He has been involved in Social Entrepreneurship and worked in Brazil, India and The Philippines to support entrepreneurs and identifying innovative organisations. He also spent 2 years in Japan learning about how emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, Blockchain etc can be used in emerging economies. These are technologies that he believes will radically improve the quality of life for humanity.

Dan completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from New York University before moving to Atlanta, Georgia to work as a consultant with PwC where he helped clients develop Organizational Strategy, as well as design and implement Risk and Compliance programs. A Kenyan native, Dan always wanted to return to Nairobi to become involved in the impact investment space in Africa, and pursued an MBA from the Wharton School of Business in order to develop the necessary skills to do so. During his MBA, Dan worked as a consultant for the Agri Equity fund at responsAbility Africa for a year before joining the team full-time in June 2018 as a Private Equity Associate. At responsAbility, Dan is involved in deal sourcing, and performing due diligence on investment opportunities.

Kanini is currently the Investment Director at the East Africa Trade and Investment Hub, an impact first focused transaction advisory unit. She is a UK Chartered accountant and Harvard Kennedy School Alumnus with experience at Director and board level at Merrill Lynch Bank of America, KPMG, Ernst and Young and Kleinwort Benson Private Bank.

 

Recently Kanini closed deals as investment director at EATIH that included a $7m poultry transaction in Ethiopia that created 500 new jobs and a $6m mobile agency network deal that helped create new entrepreneurs in Uganda.

 

She is also the Board Chair of the Global Innovation Fund (GIF) a $225m impact fund focused on impact investment in emerging market commercial innovations that help solve social constraints. GIF is an equity co-investor in the first global conditional cash transfer business with Reed Hoffman who is LinkedIn's founder.

Kanini sits on the investment committee of AHL Growth Fund, a $30m local early stage fund focused on equity and quasi-equity investment in firms in the fintech, financial inclusion and agricultural sectors.

Prior to her current positions, she was an Investment Committee member at the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF), a $227m continent wide Impact fund focused on agriculture and clean energy sub-sectors. AECF was one of the early investors in Mkopa and Mobisol, 2 clean energy companies that have made a significant impact in the provision of solar power to communities in the region.

Mercy’s expertise on Rwanda and Burundi regions played a vital role while raising US $4 Mn for supporting early-stage businesses in these markets. She supported the establishment of a unique resource mobilization model in the water sector in Kenya. The model is scalable across Africa and will facilitate the growth of local businesses.

Winnie is an Investment Manager at LGT Impact whose key responsibilities include deal pipeline sourcing, negotiation and portfolio management including board representation in portfolio organizations. She previously worked at Fanisi Capital Limited, a Kenyan-based venture capital fund focused on healthcare agribusiness and retail and consumer space. In this role, she was responsible for the origination, execution and active portfolio management of three companies, specifically; a retail pharmacy chain, a meat processing company and a food processing company. She sat on the board of these companies as a board observer, actively contributing to the strategic aspects of the businesses and maintaining ongoing engagement with top management of the company, providing value addition support that contributed positively to the growth of the companies.

 

She previously also worked at PwC in the Deals team exclusively on Merger and Acquisitions for both buy side and sell side mandates in sub-Saharan Africa. Her experience cuts across various sectors including financial services in Banks and Insurance Companies, Manufacturing, Media and the Hospitality Sector. She also worked on Project Finance deals in the transport sector and capital raising mandates in the hospitality sector.

Sarah Ngamau is the Managing Director for Creadev in Africa.

 

Prior to Creadev she was The Senior Investment Analyst and Investment Manager at TBL Mirror Fund BV. She joined the firm in April 2007 as an Investment Analyst and was promoted to Investment Manager in 2011. She has been with TBL since inception, bringing six years of private equity experience. Ms. Ngamau has developed accounting and analytical skills through her work experience in several accounting positions, amongst them in a large medical supplies company and a reputable accounting/audit agency. Previously, she has lectured in Economics and Quantitative methods at Kabete Technical College.

Tina Nyamache serves as the Africa Operations and Partnerships Associate at Village Capital. She primarily focuses on sourcing for high-potential startups, potential partners and manages Village Capital's investment-readiness programs in the region. She oversees sector research, pipeline development, due diligence interviews, and selection committee briefing.

Tina served as the National Project Manager for FK Norway and AIESEC Kenya, a project that worked with recent graduates who wanted to realize their ideas around social innovation. Vruti Shah is a partner at Bowmans Kenya. Her experiences include corporate and commercial law, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and project finance. Vruti has advised institutional investors looking to invest in listed companies in Kenya, real estate developers involved in large development projects, parties undertaking joint ventures, and international retail chains in relation to commercial property.

She has an LLB from the University of London and graduated cum laude in the Legal Practice Course from Nottingham Law School and is admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Victor has over 15 years of transaction advisory services experience across developed and  emerging markets including Canada, Ukraine, Australia, Papa New Guinea and Tanzania.

He has  led sell side lead deals (indicative valuation, financial due diligence and deal execution) of a major Australian iron-ore producer with a market cap of c.$A1.5b situated in WA Pilbara craton on behalf of a major Asian acquirer; strategic valuations of a number of copper/zinc-lead acquisition targets as well as sell side support of a Global Asian Oil & Gas player in its acquisition of Papa New Guinean NGL assets. Leading the process; providing indicative valuation, marketing documents and negotiation assistance; and numerous other sell/Sell Side Natural Resources engagements

In Europe, Victor has conducted periodic detailed valuation reviews, financial due diligence assessments and performance assessments of all the major domestic companies in Ukraine and PNG; namely, LNG PNG assets, BSP Bank, Westpac bank, SP Breweries, Paradise Foods, Ella Motors, City Pharmacy, Crown Plaza Hotel and Lamana Developments, while also undertaking M&A advisory engagements representing one of the largest European Financial Services companies in its negotiation with an Eastern European business partner delivering strategic advice, valuation and carve-out support services.

Carol is a Finance and Investment Professional with over 9 years of experience in lending and investment. Her current role involves identifying, evaluating and closing transactions (debt, equity, quasi-equity) for Business Partners in East Africa with a primary focus to improve access to finance for SMEs.

 

Carol has accumulated vast experience in the Public Sector having worked for the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, a Government Parastatal whose core business is Lending and Investment. She has also been greatly involved in economically empowering Kenyan youth and SMEs through lending, entrepreneurial training and provision of business advisory services.

 

Carol's contribution to the Youth Enterprise Development Fund was the development of a funding model that employed a mix of impact investing and developmental investing. She currently holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Commerce-Finance from the University of Nairobi, and  a CPA (K).
